Software and harware: my suggestions

Disclaimer: the following lines are not sponsor by anybody and are only suggestions from my experience as a real everyday user and for this reason are far to be complete!

Linux proof hardware

I use since three years a toshiba M30-800 laptop with great joy! With linux I do not miss anything! I can use the integrated modem, the nvidia graphics, the integrated microphone, the ipw2100 wifi, the special keys, ... Probably also my next laptop will be a toshiba again!

With lot of joy I discovered that the Toshiba DVB tuner works flawlessly with linux!!!!! It even works better than on windows using Savvy TV (I hate that software!!!!) The trick to make it work is to connect it many times since it appears on /var/log/messages that it has been recognized. You have to do this because there is a too short timeout in the kernel. Probabibly I will write something more about it or send me a mail if you want to know more!

My digital photo camera is a Fuji Finepix. Linux allows to use it as a USB memory and I know some volunteer is working for using it as a webcam!
